Day 137. The Festivities Begin.

It's a happy time and a sad time for me. My brother just got to Newfoundland from Alberta with his beautiful bride Marilyn. I'm so happy for them and the wedding they will have next weekend. I am so happy for my brother David. He waited a long time to find someone like her.

The rest of the family will begin to arrive from all parts starting later today. Wayne and his wife Joan arrive tonight from New Brunswick. My sister Valerie and husband Charlie arrive Monday then throughout the week, my sisters Mary, and Ness arrive with their families including some grandchildren. I wish our family was in the mix. It is just not meant to be. I have not been cleared for driving or flying and many other things yet. I know it is going to be a wonderful Newfoundland family time and it is hard for all of us not to be there for them.

I have to find a strategy to keep myself busy and a little distracted. It's tough enough to be laid up but if it means missing the party of the year it's even worse!

I have decided I need to keep myself busy and that means focussing on what I can do. I have two assessments next week other than that I am free. I will have some friends come by to help broaden my world a little as I hear about there's. It's great having Meg with us this weekend. She, Barry and I crossed the street today to our lovely little beach and I got in the water. It was a big step for me as the unsteadiness of the sand combined with my unsteadiness was a lot to handle. It comes down to trust and I do trust Barry who was hanging onto me every step of the way. I have to say on a day that reaches over 30 degrees Celsius a dip in the lake is always called for in this family. We had to be creative again. Barry, Meg and Whinnie would dive off the boat. I would have my swim walking into the lake assisted so I was nice an cool before we puttered in the Bay for them to swim. It was not the same as jumping off the boat but it was fantastic. I walked out for a while and Barry held me as I kicked out my legs and floated for a while. Having cooled down we headed for the boat and a short ride into the Bay. There was a lovely breeze so we sat anchored and pulled out our books. It wasn't long before I was asleep then Barry and Whinnie followed suit. It was a great way to spend a summer Saturday.

We were home by three and I felt asleep again soon after and woke again at five. It's amazing what fresh air and sunshine can do.

I called Mom to say good night tonight she's happy to have David and Marilyn there and excited for the wedding. She too is struggling. She has developed an infection and is taking antibiotics. She is anxious to get better and get to that wedding. We wished each other a Good Night and Barry and I walked down to the marina to watch the sunset.

You and all of the Clout Family will be greatly missed at the wedding.
We'll be thinking of you and know that you're working hard at your recovery. You're a strong woman Maureen ! I'll be interested to hear what Dr. Fehlings has to say about your progress .
Love you 😝

Thanks Mary. We are pretty bummed it has turned out this way. Life has a way of handing us stuff we just can't man sense of. This is one of those things. X0. You're a great sister. I'm so glad I have you.
