Day 78. The Most Magical Days of My Life.

Jerri was born on Christmas Day, and Meghan was born the the first of May. That was a little rhyme that Barry came up with and has stayed in our family.

Jerri was due on January 15th, 1993. She decided she wasn't going to wait a minute longer and who could blame her? Being a self confessed chocolate lover I had gotten plenty of beautiful chocolate for Christmas that year; considering I was almost nine months pregnant I was eating it freely. It was Christmas afternoon and I was reaching under the tree for one more piece of chocolate when I heard the infamous pop. It being a first pregnancy I went about my business with a slight cramp in my side. There was no question moments later just as my nephew was snapping a picture of Barry and I with my sister and her husband, Mary and Sam, because there was a huge splash and I was soaked. My water had broken and the team around me sprang into action.

It was an incredibly stormy day and since we hadn't planned on going anywhere we hadn't thought about clearing the driveway, and the vehicles were covered in snow. My oldest nephew Jay, and my brother-in-law Sam went out to look after the driveway and the car. My nephews Brad and Mike ran for towels. They also asked if I needed Tynelol as they had seen that on T.V. Barry found the bag I had packed and got his things together as Mary stayed with me as we looked at each other in disbelief. Christmas Day? Really?

We had a wonderful couple of years of parenting and adjusting to becoming a family when sweet Meggie May entered our lives. She was exactly to the day on time! There was such a concern that she would be early. Doctors thought because Jerri was three weeks early that Meg might be too. She was not, so we were really ready when on May 1st, she arrived.

These girls have enriched our lives in so many ways. They have brought us into the worlds of figure skating, gymnastics, piano, hockey, fast pitch, robotics, community service, cross country running, drama and so much more. They have grabbed onto every opportunity with enthusiasm and excitement that was contagious. We enjoyed it all.

Now we have the privilege to see them set off into life, finding their way in the world. They are beautiful young woman and I am proud of the family life we have created.

Thank you Jerri and Meghan, you have made me very happy and it is a privilege to be your Mother.

Happy Mother's Day to all you Moms out there, enjoy your day.
